Follow these instructions to install your PharmaBraille Braille fonts on the operating systems listed below. If you have trouble consult your operating system manual.
Mac PostScript: A PostScript font for the Macintosh is made up of two files: a font suitcase for screen display, and a printer font file for printing.
PC PostScript:
A PostScript font for Windows is typically comprised of the *.pfb, *.pfm, and *.inf files, and may also include *.afm files. All of these files are needed for the font to properly function.
Attention:
- Older versions of Windows and Macintosh operating systems will require Adobe Type Manager (ATM) to use PostScript fonts. A free version can be downloaded from Adobe.
- Never rename any font files, as this may cause them to be unusable.
System: Drag the font suitcase and the PostScript font onto the icon of the System Folder.
ATM 4.x Deluxe: Copy the font suitcase and the printer font into a folder on your hard drive except the Fonts folder in the System Folder. Make sure that the font suitcase and the printer font are in the same folder. Start ATM and install the font according to the ATM manual.
Suitcase: Copy the font suitcase and the PostScript font into a folder on your hard drive except the Fonts folder in the System Folder. Make sure that the font suitcase and the PostScript font are in the same folder. Start Suitcase and install the font according to the Suitcase manual.
Drag the font suitcase and the PostScript font into the Library/Fonts folder. ATM is not needed with OSX.
You will need to have installed ATM or ATM light. A free version of ATM Light can be downloaded from Adobe at http://www.adobe.com/products/atmlight/main.html Launch ATM and install fonts according to the ATM manual.
Neither Windows 2000 nor XP require additional software to use PostScript fonts. From the Start menu, choose Settings > Control Panel and then double-click the Fonts folder to open it. From the Fonts folder File menu, click Install New Font. Next, Choose the drive and folder that contains the font that you wish to install. To select multiple fonts, hold down the CTRL key while you select the fonts. Make sure “Copy fonts to Fonts folder” is checked. Click on OK. Consult your Windows users manual for more information.
